LAYERS ACTIVE / STUDIO GRIP

Terms of service

Last updated: 29 October 2026

These terms apply when you buy from layersactive.com. Please read them before you order. We don't keep a separate copy of these terms for each order, so you may want to save or print them. Your order details are in the confirmation email we send you.

Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.

1. About us

Layers Active is the trading name of Layers Active Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 16663393. Our registered office is 20 Percy Street, London W1T 1DZ, United Kingdom.

You can contact us by email at hello@layersactive.com. We aim to reply within 2 working days.

Our shop is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide it to you. However, any sales and purchases you make in our shop are made directly with Layers Active. By using our shop, you acknowledge and agree that Shopify is not responsible for any aspect of any sales between you and Layers Active, including any injury, damage, or loss resulting from purchased products and services. You hereby expressly release Shopify and its affiliates from all claims, damages, and liabilities arising from or related to your purchases and transactions with Layers Active. This does not change our own responsibility to you, set out in section 10.

2. These terms

  • These terms are for consumers: people buying for themselves, not for a business. If you'd like to buy for a studio or another business, please email us first.
  • You need to be 18 or over to place an order.
  • These terms work together with our Returns and refunds, Delivery and Privacy policies.
  • The contract between us is in English.

3. Ordering, and when the contract starts

To order:

  1. Add the pairs you want to your bag.
  2. Go to checkout and enter your email address, delivery address and payment details.
  3. Check your order. Until you pay, you can correct any mistake by changing your bag or your details in checkout.
  4. Press the button to pay.

Placing your order is an offer to buy. We then email you an order confirmation. That email means we have received your order; it does not mean we have accepted it. The contract between us starts when we email you to say your order has been dispatched.

If we can't accept your order, for example because a pair is out of stock, because of an obvious error in a price or description, or because we suspect fraud, we will tell you and refund you in full as soon as we can, and within 14 days.

4. Prices, pair prices and discount codes

Prices. Our prices are in pounds sterling (£). We are not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added to them. Delivery is charged on top unless your order qualifies for free delivery; see our Delivery policy. If checkout shows your total in another currency, that is the amount you pay, and your bank may charge a fee for converting it.

Pair prices. One pair costs £16. Any three pairs cost £42 (£14 a pair) and any six cost £75 (£12.50 a pair). You can mix patterns and colours. For four or five pairs, each pair is £14. For seven or more, each pair is £12.50. Pair prices are applied automatically at checkout and are for the pairs you keep. If you send some back, see section 7. The price shown at checkout, before you pay, is the price you pay. If a price doesn't look right, please contact us before paying.

Discount codes. Only one discount code can be used per order, and codes can't be combined with each other. Pair prices still apply alongside a code. Codes can't be exchanged for cash and don't reduce delivery charges unless they say so.

  • FIRSTLAYER gives 20% off your first order. It is for people who join our email list, and each customer can use it once. It can be used together with the pair price. It has no end date for now. We may change the discount or end the code in future; the discount shown at checkout when you order is the one you get.
  • Any other code, such as one on a card in your parcel, comes with its own conditions, which we will tell you with the code.

Mistakes in prices. We work hard to get prices right. If we find an obvious error in the price of something you've ordered (for example £1.60 instead of £16), we will contact you before dispatch. We don't have to sell at the wrong price, and if you don't want the item at the right price, we will refund you in full.

5. Payment

You pay when you place your order, through Shopify's secure checkout. We accept the payment methods shown at checkout, such as debit and credit cards, Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay. We never see or store your full card details.

6. Delivery, and when the socks become yours

  • We deliver to the countries offered at checkout. Our Delivery policy sets out the costs, how long delivery usually takes and what to do if a parcel is late or lost.
  • Unless we agree otherwise, we will deliver within 30 days of the contract starting.
  • The socks are our responsibility until they are delivered to you, or to someone you have named to receive them. They become yours once they are delivered and we have received your payment.
  • If a parcel can't be delivered because the address is wrong or incomplete, or because it isn't collected, we will contact you to arrange sending it again or a refund.

7. Your right to cancel

You can cancel your order for any reason within 14 days, starting the day after you, or someone you have named, receive it. If your order comes in more than one parcel, the 14 days start the day after the last one arrives. You can also cancel before your order arrives.

How to cancel. Tell us clearly that you want to cancel: email returns@layersactive.com, or write to us at the address in section 1. You can use the form at the end of these terms, but you don't have to. To meet the deadline, send your message before the 14 days are up.

Sending the socks back. Send them back within 14 days of telling us you are cancelling. Our Returns and refunds policy explains how, and who pays the return postage.

Your refund. We will refund what you paid for the items you return, worked out as set out under "Pair prices and codes" below. If you return your whole order, we also refund the delivery charge, up to the cost of our standard delivery. We will pay your refund within 14 days of receiving the socks back, or of you showing us proof that you have sent them, whichever is sooner. We refund to the payment method you used, with no fee.

Pair prices and codes. Pair prices, including the automatic three-pair and six-pair prices, are for the pairs you keep. If you send back some of your pairs, we work out what the pairs you keep would have cost on their own, at the pair price for that number of pairs and with any discount code you used, and refund the rest of what you paid for your pairs, less the returns label. Our Returns and refunds policy shows examples.

Worn or washed socks. We may reduce your refund if the socks have lost value because they have been handled more than you could in a shop, for example worn for exercise or washed. For a worn pair this can be up to its full price, because we can't sell it again.

8. If something is wrong with your order

We must supply socks that are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not, you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including:

  • up to 30 days after delivery: a full refund;
  • after 30 days, or if you prefer: a replacement. If the replacement is also faulty, or we can't replace them within a reasonable time, you can have a refund or a price reduction instead;
  • within six months of delivery: a fault is presumed to have been there when the socks arrived, unless we can show otherwise.

We pay the postage for returning faulty items and for sending replacements. Our Returns and refunds policy explains how to tell us.

9. About our socks

  • The grip is printed silicone. It helps you stay steady on studio floors, mats and reformers. It wears with use and washing, like the tread on a shoe, and that is normal wear rather than a fault.
  • Grip helps, but it can't prevent every slip. Take care on wet, polished or dusty floors and on stairs, and follow your instructor's guidance.
  • Our socks are not a medical device or protective equipment.
  • Our socks come in one size. Our Fit and care page shows the shoe sizes they fit best (UK 3 to 8).
  • Please follow the care instructions on the band and on our Fit and care page.
  • Colours on screen can look slightly different in real life.

10. Our responsibility to you

If we break these terms, or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is obvious it will happen, or if we both knew it might happen when the contract was made. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.

We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or the negligence of anyone working for us; for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; for breaking your legal rights about the socks (that they are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described); and for defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987.

We sell our socks for personal use. We are not responsible to you for any loss of profit, loss of business or business interruption.

11. Events outside our control

If something outside our control, such as a postal strike, severe weather or a failure of Shopify's or Royal Mail's systems, delays your order, we will tell you as soon as we can and do what we can to keep the delay short. We are not responsible for delays caused by events like these. If there is a risk of a long delay, you can contact us to cancel, and we will refund you for anything you haven't received.

12. Our name and content

LAYERS ACTIVE is a UK registered trade mark (number UK00004256735). Our name, logo, sock designs, photographs and the words on this site are protected by intellectual property law. You are welcome to share our pages and posts, but please don't copy or use them for business purposes without our permission.

13. Your personal information

We use your personal information as our Privacy policy explains.

14. Complaints

If you are unhappy with anything, please email hello@layersactive.com with your order number, and we will try to put it right. If we can't settle a complaint between us, we will tell you about an alternative dispute resolution service that could look at it, and whether we will use it.

For free, independent advice on your consumer rights, you can contact Citizens Advice on 0808 223 1133 or at citizensadvice.org.uk.

15. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings about them in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can bring them in Scotland or in England and Wales. If you live in Northern Ireland, you can bring them in Northern Ireland or in England and Wales. If you live outside the UK, you also keep any protection the mandatory consumer law of your country gives you.

16. Other points

  • We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your order are the ones on our site when you placed it.
  • If we sell our business, we may transfer these terms to the buyer. We will tell you, and it won't affect your rights.
  • If a court decides that part of these terms is unlawful, the rest still applies.
  • Nobody else has any rights under these terms.
  • If we don't enforce one of these terms straight away, we can still enforce it later.
